I regret to announce the death of our Ex Commodore Will Armour, who was always a great supporter of the Yare Sailing Club and its members. Despite suffering a great deal of pain recently he kept his positive and cheerful nature. We will miss him, it was always a pleasure to be in his company and many of us will have happy memories of our times together.
We send our condolences and best wishes to his
partner Jan, his children Kirsty and Tim, and their families.

Will Armour came to the Norfolk Broads from the Royal Grammar School in
Newcastle, being brought as a schoolboy to sail with the Green Wyvern Yachting
Club. Like so many, he married, moved away and raised a family.
After working around the country for the NHS and as a postman in far flung
reaches of Scotland, he returned to Norfolk, where he lived in Reedham for a
while, before meeting Jan and moving to join her in Wymondham.
He bought into Modwena and became involved with
the Yare Sailing Club in the mid 2010s, becoming Treasurer in 2016, Secretary in
2017 and then undertaking a three year stint as Commodore from 2019, before his
last illness forced him to stand down. Usually to be seen with a glass of
red wine in his hand and to be heard telling very bad jokes, Will was a generous supporter of the Club who will be much
missed.
The funeral was held at Earlham Crematorium on Monday 11 July,
where many people wore Will’s favourite colour, red. Afterwards, there
was a gathering at the Oaklands Hotel in Thorpe, with entertainment provided by
a jazz trio.
